1. Cara Kerja.
V-belts and flat belts are two types of power transmission belts used in mechanical systems to transfer rotational energy from one shaft to another. V-belts have a V-shaped cross-section that fits into corresponding grooves in the pulleys, providing better grip and reducing slippage. Flat belts, on the other hand, have a flat surface that wraps
Timing belt replacements can cost between $500 to $1000 on average if they are only damaged and not broken, but a broken timing belt can cost more than $2000 to replace. Serpentine belts only cost $70 to $200 to replace on average. In every repair case, costs can be less or more expensive depending on the make and model of your car and the
It is a pulley, water pump or tensioner that will eventually seize up and take out the belt. That said, the timing belt is made partially of a rubber compound, so it has a 'life' to it even if seldom used. Not unlike tires 'dry rotting'. Hence Toyota's recommendation to change at 90K/7 years.
Step 1: Determine the type of belt you have. You need to measure the width of your belt. We have different types of belts, Type A, Type B, with different measurements. So you want to know the width of your belt first. Step 2: Measure the length of your belt. You can do this by using a cloth or a measuring tape.
Gear systems can transmit power between non-parallel, intersecting, and co-planar shafts. Pros. Cons. They are non-slip drives. Mechanically strong. Deliver high transmission efficiency. Ideal for low, medium and high power transmission. More compact compared to belts and chains. Cannot be used for shafts with center distances.
Imho timing chains are better than belts purely for the reason you generally don't need to change them unless something else goes wrong, like a tensioner going out. The only thing I prefer belts for is quieter operation as well as soaking up harmonic frequencies between the crank and camshaft (s). 2.
Timing belts are not expensive. For most applications, you can get a complete kit with a water pump, gaskets, tensioner, and belt for less than $200—or the belt alone for less than $100. How to Replace a Timing Belt. Replacing a timing belt is a moderate-level repair job. The basic replacement is not difficult, just time-consuming.

Correction: the “free tool” I mentioned earlier appears to be for inspecting accessory belts, not timing belts. Anyhow, I think this thread shows the lack of data on the life expectancy of the Gates racing timing belt under “normal” service conditions, 'cause no one, not even Gates, can give me an answer backed up by test data.
